The philosophy of the firm is to build homes that will stand the test of time for many generations. This is evidenced by the Hardie Plank ® exteriors, high ceilings, extra wide exterior walls, hardwood floors, and high quality finishes throughout the homes. The Olde Towne Company is a home building firm dedicated to building quality homes with good "bones".
The unique history of The Olde Towne Company is based on the relationship the managing partner Daniel W. Aston has with the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA). Mr. Aston, in his capacity with a large urban apartment developer, had built The Myrtles at Olde Towne, a very high quality urban apartment home development that is adjacent to the Park View neighborhood. The success of this development allowed both the developer and PRHA to discuss the adjacent neighborhood of Park View. In 2003, The Olde Towne Company was awarded the opportunity to build over forty new homes in this very important and reviving neighborhood. The Olde Towne Company accepted this responsibility with a sense of stewardship so that the neighborhood can once again be what it once was, a great neighborhood filled with citizens seeking an urban lifestyle in a charming well located neighborhood.
Please take the time to come see our homes. They are built with quality and we believe they represent the best value to be found anywhere in Hampton Roads. We welcome any questions you may have regarding Park View homes and the historical Park View area. We thank you for visiting our site and hope you will stop by again soon. There are many more changes happening over the next few months as we begin to build your dream home.
Daniel W. Aston has over thirty years of experience in the real estate business. Mr. Aston graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, with Bachelor of Science degree, with special attainments in commerce in 1977. Subsequently, Mr. Aston associated himself with Mr. Chip Johnson and Mr. Clint Murchison III, operating as Johnson Investments in Dallas, Texas. He was an in-house real estate broker whose responsibilities included locating and contracting for real estate in the Dallas, Fort Worth area. His main areas of activity were renovation of apartment complexes and raw land for residential development.
In 1979, Mr. Aston formed his own company, Daniel W. Aston, Inc., a commercial real estate brokerage company, with emphasis on apartments. The firm grew rapidly to a staff of over twenty persons. Between 1979 and 1986, the firm had sales between fifty and one hundred and fifty million dollars. In 1982, The Whitmore Company was established as a holding company for the brokerage company and a newly formed apartment management division to better insure clients and investors the opportunity to deal with a full service real estate company.
In 2003, Mr. Aston joined Roseland Property as the partner for the Mid Atlantic region. Roseland Property Company is one of the largest urban housing developers in the nation. Roseland has opened an office in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia to begin development on several large scale urban apartment communities.
Additionally in 2004, Mr. Aston, formed The Olde Towne Company for the purpose of building high quality in fill, for sale single family housing. The company is presently building thirty new homes in the historic Park View neighborhood of Portsmouth.
Daniel W. Aston has also had a strong background in community issues, serving in numerous capacities. In 1982, the Mayor of Dallas asked Mr. Aston to chair the Oak Lawn Forum, which was a coalition of developers and neighborhood groups who were brought together to successfully rezone the uptown area of Dallas to allow for urbanization of this area to be reflected in a new zoning code. Today, due to the long range urban planning of the Oak Lawn Forum, there are literally tens of thousands of new housing units in the area that would not have been possible without this urban framework. Mr. Aston has also served his city as a representative on the Dallas Transportation Committee, a technical sub-committee of the City Planning Commission, reviewing all transportation issues of the City of Dallas. This position was appointed by the Planning Commission of Dallas.
Outside of these business and real estate activities, Mr. Aston considers the work he has done with the Presbyterian and Baptist churches to be some of the best use of his time and talent. In November of 1998, working with the Southern Baptist Church, the Texas Baptist Men and the North Carolina Baptist Men, Daniel W. Aston raised a substantial amount of money to assist in the disaster relief effort in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch. Subsequently, he volunteered for service and went to Honduras and worked cleaning out dozens of houses that were filled with mud, debris, sewage and trash, so the families could begin to move back into their homes. In 1993 and 1994, Mr. Aston worked with two Dallas Presbyterian Churches to help successfully plan and build five new Presbyterian Churches in Campeche, Mexico.
Prior to moving to Virginia in the fall of 2001, Daniel Aston was an active member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas serving on the Jubilee Coordinating Committee, which is responsible for the oversight of the extensive remodeling and expansion of the present church facility. Additionally, Mr. Aston served as chairman of the Development and Redevelopment Committee of Grace Presbytery, primarily responsible for reviewing the real estate requirements of all of the existing and to be built Presbyterian USA churches in the greater Dallas/Fort Work area. Presently Mr. Aston is an active member of First Presbyterian Church U.S.A in Portsmouth, Virginia.
During college, Mr. Aston served as president of his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, and continues to serve as President of the House Corporation today. In 1984, Daniel W. Aston was nominated and accepted as one of the U.S. Jaycees Outstanding Young Men of America. Mr. Aston has also served as a fundraiser and volunteer for Camp Grady Spruce (Boy Scout Camp), and as a captain of the real estate industry for March of Dimes Spring Walk, and as a member of the building committee of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Daniel Aston is currently a member of Sons of the American Revolution. In Portsmouth, Virginia, Mr. Aston serves his community as a member of the executive committee of Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Portsmouth Division. In addition Mr. Aston also servers on the board of The Mason School of Business at The College of William & Mary. At present, Mr. Aston holds real estate brokerage licenses in Virginia and Texas.

Covington Contracting was built on one simple principle: If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. It is this principle that has guided the company for the past twenty-five years in its building and development of hundreds of custom homes and custom home communities.
For the past eighteen years, the company’s primary focus has been the construction of distinctive quality single family homes, with the majority of these luxury homes being on the waterfront in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Suffolk. Larchmont, Lochaven, Edgewater and Ghent in Norfolk; Little Neck, Great Neck, and the oceanfront in Virginia Beach and the Riverfront in Suffolk are some of the prestigious neighborhoods in which Covington Contracting builds and develops.
A native of eastern North Carolina, President Joe Covington and his wife, Janet, have lived in Tidewater since 1973. Joe has been involved in residential real estate since 1977, forming Covington & Associates Realtors, Inc. in 1981. That company has handled the brokerage of properties throughout the area, and for the past 26 years has overseen the property management of various development projects undertaken by Covington Contracting.
Since its inception in 1985, Covington Contracting has developed, built or renovated projects with a value in excess of $150 million. Some of the communities developed by Covington Contracting in Virginia Beach are Carolanne Point, Brigadoon Meadows, St. Croix, Heron’s Point and Village Springs Condominiums. Properties in Chesapeake include The Meadows at Bald Cypress Quay, The Landings at Bald Cypress Quay, and Ash Hill. Grayport West Condominiums, Baecher Point, Blanford Point, University Square Townhomes, Grantham Square Condominiums, and Water’s Edge at Wayne Creek are among those communities built by Covington Contracting in Norfolk.
Joe Covington has served as past chairman of the Tidewater Builders Association Advisory Council and is a current member of TBA. He was a founding member of the Kiwanis Club of Ghent and is a former member of the board of directors of the Downtown Norfolk YMCA. Joe currently serves as a member of the Foundation Board of Directors of East Carolina University and is a member of the Corporate Board of Directors of Monarch Bank. His ties to this area are very strong, and he takes great pride in being involved in projects that continue to enhance the quality of life in Tidewater.
Joe and his wife have two children. Their daughter, Erin, is married and living in Raleigh, NC. In 2005, they welcomed their son, Graham, to the company. Graham comes to Covington Contracting with a degree in Construction Management from East Carolina University and several years of experience in specialized commercial building. Joe, Graham and all of the project managers and staff are committed to the goal of providing their clients with the highest standard of quality possible.
